In the Grand Scheme of Things

So I have been faced with a great dilemma...picking a paint color for my living room/dining room area.  I combined those two rooms, because in my house quite technically those two rooms are combined.  Translation...I have an open layout so I have to consider the furniture in both rooms when choosing a color scheme.

OK...here is where the dilemma comes in.  My dining room table is a brown marble top with dark brown leather chairs.  My couch for the living room however, is gray with black and white accent pillows.  Now do you see my dilemma?

OBFF came over a few weeks ago to get a personal tour and visit in general.  So of course we attempted to tackle this issue.  The result - SUCCESS.  So after we came up with a million workable ideas...OBFF asked one seemingly simple question..."Do you have to use the black and white accent pillows?"

I pondered for a moment and then realized and responded at once, "No."  The answer to that one simple question resolved my dilemma in less than 2.5 seconds.  From that she ushered me through a thought process that birthed the color scheme for my entire lower level (not just the living room/dining room).  The girl is a genius I tell you (lol)!

So off I went to Lowes in search of paint samples...and to my great surprise and delight Valspar has an entire metallic paint collection.

Another close up (different shades)

After much deliberation, I settled on the colors for the lower level as well as my bedroom.

Now all that needs to be done is the actual painting.  I decided to include the Glam Squad (my girls) in this project and they (for the most part) have eagerly accepted the challenge.  The paint party is scheduled for this coming Saturday June 11th.  Stay tuned for the pics of the results.

  2. 1 - You know good and well that thew COT is in the GS...you said you were booked for that day...that's why you didn't get the evite (let me find out your schedule is clear, lol (but serious)).

2 - I cannot believe you actually set aside your reading beliefs (lol!) to read the blog. That in and of itself is a small miracle. This alone gets you off the hook for painting...but there will be other projects in the future. ;-)
