Henna Hair Challenge

I am soooooo overdue for a blog post I know.  But, so much has happened since my last post.  I finished packing...I moved...and I will have been in my house for one week tomorrow. :-)  Note I did not mention unpacking...lol  I am going to start that process today though, because I simply cannot take my clothes being all over the place.  It takes me an extra 30 minutes to get dressed because I have to first find what I want to put on.  If you know me, you know that putting my closet together is no small task...pray for me!  Anyway...on to the post...

So...I challenged my very dear (and somewhat brave) friend to color her hair using Henna.  Henna is most known as what is used by Indian women to dye their skin. However,  Henna is also commonly used as an "all-natural, permanent" hair dye. Who knew?  I didn't...until AB enlightened me.

Now although AB is a Henna advocate so to speak...she never tried it (insert gasp and clutching of pearls).  This is why she was the perfect partner for this challenge (not to mention we both were equally curious and apprehensive).  So after researching, mostly over at Mop Top Maven, I decided Henna was worth a try.  [Insert AB's unintentional sales pitch for Lush Cosmetics Henna Bars...no wonder she is in school for marketing, lol].

Basically, after much coaxing...AB agreed to Henna her hair with me.  So we set a date...and the challenge was on.  Below is a pictorial so to speak of our adventure.  I have video too, which due largely in part to my confusion...was filmed under limited capabilities.  But, because it's real clear from the vids that they were my first failed attempt at video blogging, I decided not to include them.  LOL!  I may change my mind later and add them.  So keep an eye out for an possible update of this post.

In a nutshell it was an interesting, lengthy, and slightly labor intensive process.  The end result on me...not too shabby.  I must admit it grew on me...although I would have liked more color throughout (it really only took on the top where my hair was previously treated with color), it still spices up my hair.  I may do it again in the future.

The end result on AB...virtually unnoticeable.  I will let AB make her own comments below...I am sure she has a lot to say on this topic, lol.

We are really doing this!!!!

Purchase in hand and ready to go!

AB and I both chose the Caca Rouge (Red)

There are six squares in a bar...AB used 4...I used 2

After you cut off the bars you need, you have to use a cheese grater to reduce it to a powder form.
